About Paul:
Paul Moore is a man of many talents and one singular obsession: moss. Yes, moss—the tiny, green carpets of nature that most people overlook (or try to scrape off their driveways). Paul, however, sees magic in the miniature, devoting himself to a life of discovery, photography, and the occasional patch of dirt under his nails.
With a career rooted (pun intended) in plants since 1980, Paul co-ran Nashville’s beloved Moore & Moore Garden Center for 35 years, where he cultivated both plants and a reputation as a gardening guru. Somewhere along the way, he fell hard for native plants, organic gardening, and eventually, moss—because who needs grass when you can have a lush, spongy oasis that also photographs incredibly well?
As a freelance photographer, Paul’s keen eye captures nature’s quiet drama, whether it’s a misty forest or a close-up of—you guessed it—moss. His work has graced the pages of major publications like The Wall Street Journal and Southern Living, proving that even plants can be photogenic celebrities. When he’s not behind the lens, you’ll find him speaking at conferences, leading hikes, or giving tours of his botanical sanctuary garden in Nashville—a space so lush and green it could make a rainforest jealous.
In his downtime (if that’s a thing for him), Paul explores the mountains of East Tennessee with his family, presumably scouting moss along the way and proving to all that he meets, that moss is cooler than grass—and he’s not wrong.
